5-axis machining is an advanced manufacturing process that allows CNC machines to move tools along five different axes simultaneously. Unlike traditional 3-axis machining, which only moves the tool along the X, Y, and Z axes, 5-axis machining adds two additional rotational axes (B and C), enabling the creation of complex, high-precision parts with fewer setups. This capability is especially beneficial for industries such as aerospace, automotive, and medical device manufacturing, where intricate geometries and tight tolerances are required
By eliminating the need to reposition the workpiece, 5-axis machining enhances production efficiency, improves accuracy, and allows for more intricate part designs that would otherwise be impossible with conventional methods. The increased flexibility of tool movement results in better surface finishes, reduced cycle times, and the ability to work on multiple sides of a part without manual intervention.
